METHODS OF TEACHING

Teaching foreign languages (English, German, French) in DIIT is considered a mandatory and impotent component of the professional preparation of the future railway engineers.

Research work is an essential part of the department’s activities. In constant expansion of international ties and strengthening of humanization of higher education is very useful for students of educational qualification of “Bachelor of Science” and “Specialist”.

Modern graduator should have skills of speaking, reading, translating and abstracting the texts according to his/her speciality. The learning of foreign languages is considered a fundamental part for railway engineers.

The foreign languages programme provides the compliance of all requirements according to the educational qualification characteristics graduates in relation to the general culture and foreign languages.

The main tasks of the subject: “Foreign language for professional communication”

  • to discuss problems of general and vocation-oriented nature, to achieve mutual understanding; - oral exchange of information during the day to day and business contacts (business meetings, conferences, etc.) to obtain needed information and solve a specific activity task;
  • implementation of communicative intentions in writing, to use lexical-grammatical terminology is linked with particular branch and foreign languages (print and electronic) sources in written business contacts using techniques and methods of written communication and appropriate methods of business registration documents;
  • to read and understand professionally-oriented texts in foreign languages and general scientific literature, use it in social and professional spheres.
  • The student must know:

  • the functional properties of the language and linguistic features;
  • the basic grammar categories;
  • features of business language;
  • the formation features of speech and English skills.
  • The graduator will be able:

    1. to use knowledge of foreign language in business situations and professional oral communication:
      • to support original development of the international exhibition;
      • to prepare report or presentation in a vocational-oriented branch;
      • to make an oral exchange of information in everyday, business and industrial contacts;
    1. To make professional communication:
      • to conduct business correspondence using cultural background knowledge;
      • to annotate and abstract foreign sources;
      • to complete an application or resume;
    1. to work with contracts, releases a partnership, advertising and resolve production issues.
