History of the foreign languages department

ôîòî ãëàâíîãî ñòåíäà êàôåäðû     The department of Foreign Languages in Dnipropetrovsk National University of Railway transport was founded on the 1st of September in 1933.
     English, German and French are taught at the department. The first head of the department of Foreign Languages was S.M Fildman (1933-1936).Then it was headed by S.L. Klinger (1936-1941), R.L. Rusinova (1941-1943), L.I. Latysheva (1943-1944), Y.G. Oleksandrova (1944-1959), T.I. Danyliuk (1959-1963), M.L.Semenec (1963-1979) and O.B.Tarnopolskyi (1980-2001).
Composition of department      Since 2001 the department of Foreign languages has been headed by the Doctor of Philosophic Sciences, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Assosiate Professor T.I.Vlasova. Now at the department of Foreign Languages a great attention is paid to scientific work. The instructors of the department take an active part in various domestic and international scientific conferences, publish their scientific papers, which are devoted to the methods of teaching foreign languages and gender approach in education.
    The instructors of the department work hard on involving students to studying foreign languages. As a result of that work the international scientific students’ conference in English, German and French «The Engineer of the Third Millennium» is annually held. It gives students an opportunity to publish their abstracts free of charge.
    The instructors of our department also provide special tuition to those students who intend to develop their diploma papers in English.
